How to: Wear White Denim

White denim made a huge comeback last year and has continued to be popular throughout this year as well. The best thing about white denim is that it looks good with EVERY color, so the possibilities for creating new outfits with your wardrobe are endless. If you are curious about trying white denim, here are some tips to help you figure out what style works best for you.

White Skinny Jeans
I would recommend skinny jeans for anyone that prefers a tighter fit jean, is comfortable showing off their body and overall likes the look of a skinny jean. They are a love-it or hate-it trend. Women of all ages could wear white skinny jeans. Remember, when wearing something slim fitting on the bottom, try and balance your porportions with wearing something looser-fitting on the top. Try pairing these with a flowy tank, a light-colored cardigan and flats for daytime, or with a detailed dark-colored top and heels for nighttime.

White Capri Jeans
These pants are perfect for spring/summer. They are a great alternative to the skinny jean, especially when it is too hot to wear a full legged pant. These are perfect for women of all ages, especially if they are comfortable wearing something tighter fitting. Try cuffing the bottom to have a more casual laid-back look. These should also be paired with something more loose fitting on the top to balance the porportion of your body. Try pairing these with a peasant blouse and sandals for a casual yet put together look.

White Jean Shorts
These are perfect for those hot summer days when you want to be cool and comfortable. They are great for throwing on when you don't feel like wearing a full pant. These would be perfect for those younger women who are more comfortable showing more leg. Those that aren't as comfortable might want to try a longer leg, hitting right above the knee. These are still cool, but are more conservative. Try pairing these with a tank top and sandals for a casual look, or a lightweight cardigan and flats for a more classy look.

White Flared Jeans
These are perfect when you feel like dressing up. They are perfect for when you want to wear white denim in the evening or have an all day event that lasts from morning to night. These are perfect for women of all ages. However, the size of the flared leg could depend on how comfortable you feel. Younger women might prefer a larger flare, while older women would prefer a smaller boot leg. Try pairing these with a ruffled, floral blouse and chunky heels.

Spring Trend - Floral Sandals

I was flipping through a magazine and saw a picture of these Steve Madden floral sandals and was instantly obsessed! Living in California means living in sandals. This can be tricky when deciding whether or not sandals are too casual for certain situations. By wearing embellished sandals, you are guaranteed to feel put together while still being comfortable. Florals are a huge trend for spring and summer. If you aren't comfortable wearing florals on your clothing, try integrating them in your accessories. These shoes are perfect for a Sunday brunch, on a day date, or even to grab drinks with girlfriends.

What You Need Right Now

One of my favorite parts of my Glamour magazine is the "What You Need Right Now" section. It basically lists the editors picks and must-haves for the current season and month. This is my version of this, showing you things I have been loving and think that anyone needs as part of their wardrobe this moment.

A Floral Scarf

A floral scarf is a must have in any wardrobe, especially in the spring. It easily completes any outfit and is light enough to throw on over an outfit on a chilly day but still is consistent with the season. Add this to a t-shirt, skinny jeans, colored flats and a cardigan and you have a casual and cute spring look.

Detailed Nude Platforms

These heels have lots of detail, yet look understated and wearable. The nude color is a must have for spring and allows you to wear it with almost any outfit. Bows are always on trend and helps make this shoe more feminine. The stud detailing gives these pumps a rocker edge and adds visual interest. The peep-toe and wood platform complete the look. This could be worn with a colored maxi-dress, jeans or even a floral skirt.

Floral Dress

Can you tell how much I like floral prints? This floral dress is seasonless. The dark background and black lacy detail make this dress wearable in summer with sandals and in winter with a cardigan, tights and boots. For spring, pair this with an oversized pink cardigan and black wedges. The belt completes the look by defining the waist and making the dress more daytime. Every girl should own a floral dress! (In my opinion :))

Black Skinny Jeans

I know what you must be thinking. Black jeans in spring? But go with me here on this. These jeans are my go-to pants in any season. Whether it be with a floral (of course) top and black sandals, a bright colored blouse (turquoise or coral - this year's colors!) or a crisp white oxford and colorful jewelry, these jeans will work with anything. They are the base of an outfit and allow you to showcase other more important parts of your ensemble. They also are perfect for a date night out because they are a step above plain old denim (too casual) and a step below too dressy (trying too hard).  Trust me, once you own a pair you will understand!

White Oxford Shirt

This should be a staple in anyones wardrobe, reguardless of the time of year. This white oxford can be worn an infinate amount of ways, and is perfect for spring. Try adding it tucked into a colorful skirt and wedges. Or pairing it with distressed jeans, and pumps. Or skinny cargos and a cardigan. The list goes on and on. This shirt is timeless and classic. It looks good on any body type and skin tone, seriously! How many clothing items can you say that about?

I will hopefully be doing these posts regularly, since I constantly am in "need" of new clothing items. :) All items are from Forever21.

Celebrity Inspired - Rachel Bilson

Rachel Bilson is known as being one of today's fashion icons. Her effortless and California-chic style has transported her from a little known actress to the best dressed pages in countless magazines. She never looks overdone and always looks cute and casual. Her staple clothing items include white t-shirts, jeans, flats, and boots. Whether its running to the grocery store or attending a premier, she always knows what looks appropriate and fashionable.

This look is classic Rachel. She is wearing boyfriend jeans that have made been hugely popular this year, a dark floral top, a cropped black jacket and flats. All of these items are cute, casual and on-trend. She knows how to appropriately integrate basics and trendier pieces to create an outfit. This look is perfect for spring because it integrates both winter and summer pieces together. By adding a jacket to a cami, it transforms a regular summer outfit into a something for spring. Also, adding flats instead of sandals not only makes this outfit feel more polished, it again transforms the outfit into spring, rather than summer.

This look is super easy to recreate! Here are my suggestions:

1. Winter Kate Clementime Cami; $86
2. Alexander Wang Black Crop Jersey Jacket; $285
3. House of Harlow Marine Square Sunglasses; $125
4. H&M Black Ballet Flats; $20
5. Hobo International Chain Strap Mini Bag; $128
6. MiH London Boy cropped jeans; $250

Spring Trend: Nautical

Nautical has been a huge trend in the past and will continue throughout spring. Whether its a striped top, white jeans or tan espadrilles, it is easy to incorporate this trend into your spring wardrobe.

Key colors for this trend include navy (obviously!) shades of blue, white, red and gold. A big part of nautical is stripes. Horizontal stripes are something you have to be careful with, so you don't add visual excess weight on your body. Try pairing a flowy striped top with skinny jeans or tucked into navy shorts. Balance the stripes with your body type to even it out and give you a more hourglass-shaped figure.

There are different ways to wear this trend. The easiest way is to wear a navy striped tshirt and tank top. However, there are other ways to incorporate other pieces into your spring wardrobe. Try wearing a striped dress with gold flats or wearing jewelry with anchors on it. There are so many possibilites that are available for any age, style and comfort level!

Here are some pieces that fit into the trend nicely:

Navy striped tank top with gold anchor; Alloy; $25
White skirt with navy trim; Miu Miu; $565
Stripe gold button blouse; Topshop; $60
Silver striped tshirt with sequin pocket; Zumiez; $18
Light blue and white striped dress; Rag and Bone; $255
White denim skinny jeans; Hudson; $176

Knitted cream striped cape cardigan; Topshop; $76
Converse all-star slim sneakers; Converse; $50
Red and navy striped belt; Forever21; $6.80
In the navy anchor ring; Betsey Johnson; $45
Anchor chain necklace; Birdsnest Online; $15
Aviator glasses; Ray Ban; $159
Espadrille wedges; Jcpenny; $106
Navy shorts; Thelure
Navy pea coat; Boutique1
