Jumpsuits?!

Lets be honest. There are many trends out there that I love. Skinny jeans, maxi dresses, gladiator sandals, color blocking, etc etc. One trend I especially love are rompers. They remind me of my childhood. They are so easy to wear - comfortable, casual and basically thought-less (a one piece outfit!). So naturally, when the whole jumpsuit trend came into the picture I thought I would love that also. Not so much. I thought the trend was better on 6'2" models and rail-thin girls who could pull of anything. Also, how the heck were you supposed to wear it? Do you wear flats or heels? Do you belt it? Can you wear something over it? Safe to say I was overwhelmed. I realized I was over thinking this trend and missing out on something I could potentially love, like the romper.

The difference between a romper and a jumpsuit is that they don't stop mid thigh and the fabric continues on to taper in at the ankle. Because of this extra fabric, it can be difficult to judge how many accessories to use, especially if it's a printed fabric. I love how Ashlee Simpson accessorized her capri-length jumpsuit with neutral accessories. This is a perfect, non-scary & easy way to wear ANY jumpsuit. Here is my version:

Polka Dots

Here is an outfit I recently wore to work. The weather has been on the warmer side lately so I wanted something that would keep me cool, but still look appropriate for work. The shirt comes with a belt, but I decided against leaving it out, and tucked it in to a high waisted black pencil skirt.
